MANILA, Philippines --- President Rodrigo Duterte has reappointed Ronald Adamat as Commission on High Education (CHED) Commissioner, extending his term until July 2024. "President Rodrigo R. Duterte has recently reappointed Dr. Ronald L. Adamat as Commissioner of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for another term expiring on July 21, 2024," CHED chairperson Prospero De Vera III said in a statement Wednesday. Pangasinan farmer slain in gun attack

DAGUPAN CITY --- A 52-year-old farmer from Bautista town, Pangasinan province was shot dead on Tuesday morning, police said. Victim Gil Miranda, a resident of Barangay Villanueva, was riding his electronic bicycle when unidentified assailants on board an old white sedan attacked him. Police said the gunmen's car had no plate number. The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to the Bayambang District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival. TUGUEGARAO CITY --- Seventy-three Chinese nationals and three Filipinos were arrested on Tuesday at a private hotel in Santa Ana, Cagayan for engaging in illegal online gambling, police said. Crizaldo Nieves, Cagayan Valley regional police director, said they raided Villa Saturnina Hotel and Resort on the strength of a search warrant issued by a regional trial court in Aparri, Cagayan.
