Crew travel and seafarer records move toward single platform

ATPI Marine Travel and maritime digital identity platform LEDGID have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore managing crew change travel through a single digital environment.

The partnership will test whether LEDGID’s platform can provide seafarers with flight tickets, visas, itineraries, and other essential travel information alongside their professional records. The company operates a user-controlled digital profile and wallet for qualifications, training, experience and other documentation.

Crew changes often involve international connections, visa requirements and last-minute schedule changes. The companies said placing travel details alongside professional documents could reduce the need to use multiple platforms and communication channels.

ATPI’s services could integrate into LEDGID’s Vendor Space, allowing seafarers to access travel support within the same environment they use to manage their maritime identity.

“Seafarers are at the heart of the maritime industry, and their journeys to and from vessels should be as straightforward and well-supported as possible,” said Nikos Gazelidis, chief commercial officer at ATPI Marine Travel.

Henning Mark Davies, LEDGID chief executive, said travel remains an essential part of seafarers’ working lives but often involves fragmented information and unnecessary steps. He said ATPI’s travel expertise combined with LEDGID’s digital identity infrastructure could improve access for individual seafarers.

The MoU establishes a framework to assess technical feasibility and identify practical integrations. Future developments will depend on operational requirements and the needs of seafarers and crew managers. LEDGID launched in June 2026 and has since partnered with Navarino, Vikand, and FrontM on portable digital identity and seafarer services.
