THE former seaman and his female companion, who yielded an estimated P3 million worth of dangerous drugs in a drug bust at Barangay 1, Bacolod City on Wednesday, are now facing drug charges.

Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo, acting director of Bacolod City Police Office, said that charges for sale and illegal possession of dangerous drugs were filed Friday against newly-identified high-value target drug personality Reyden Palomero, 34, of Talisay City, while a criminal complaint about conspiracy in relation to selling of illegal drugs was filed against Rica Mitch Villalon, 21, of Barangay Banago.

On July 4, Palomero and Villalon were arrested after operatives of City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) raided their rented house in Barangay 1. They have been staying in the house for two days.

Ebreo, however, refused to confirm the relationship between the two suspects.

Authorities seized from them were 16 sachets of illegal drugs weighing 260 grams, the P5,000 marked money, and three bank transaction deposit slips.

Both suspects are detained at Police Station 2.

Meanwhile, the BCPO is validating Palomero's link to the group of late Western Visayas drug lord Ramy Poja after authorities learned that he is also an alleged supplier of illegal drugs to the latter's group, citing the recovered money remittance slip for an alleged drug transaction that has a name of a certain “Poja” on it.

Palomero is also an alleged supplier of illegal drugs in Bacolod and neighboring cities and municipalities of Negros Occidental.

The city police force is upbeat that more drug personalities will be arrested after the neutralization of Poja, who was killed in a police operation in Banago village on May 24. (GYM/SunStar Bacolod)
