ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A retired seaman is running for Roxas City mayor in next year’s midterm elections.

Wenceslao Arapan-Diangco of New Road Brgy. Banica here, is set to file his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) on Oct 15, 2018 at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Roxas City Hall as an independent.

The 64-year-old seafarer sees that lack of improvement in the city is the top reason why he decided to throw his hat into politics.

Diangco retired in September this year after working as a seafarer for 30 years.

If he wins, Diangco vowed to decongest traffic problems in the streets of the city by constructing additional roads and bridges.

He also vowed to clean rivers in Roxas City to bring back the old glory days that the people enjoy.

He added that he will provide livelihood programs to underprivileged farmers such as irrigation system and agricultural assistance, and fishing equipment on the part of the fishermen.

Diangco is presently engaged in domestic trucking and car wash services in Iloilo and Capiz.
