General cargo ship KRYSSHOLM suffered mechanical failure in Aegean sea north of Crete island, Greece, in the afternoon Oct 18, while en route from Nemrut Bay Turkey to Ceuta Spain. Tug CHRISTOS XVII towed disabled ship to Souda, northern Crete, where she was docked at around midday Oct 19. As of 0000 UTC Oct 20, KRYSSHOLM was in the same position.
General cargo ship KRYSSHOLM, IMO 9579468, dwt 4294, built 2011, flag Norway, manager Atasoy Group Istanbul.

Cargo ship VIET NGA 79 (ND 3479) got stuck under the Do Quan bridge on Song Dao river, Red River tributary, Nam Dinh city, south of Hanoi, in the afternoon Oct 19. Bridge was closed for all traffic, salvage under way to release the ship. No information found on VET NGA 79, except that she’s 2000-ton cargo ship, obviously sea-going.

Ambassador claims the vessel was carrying cereals from Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan; no specification of what the toxic substance was or whether foul play suspected

Iran’s official IRNA news agency said Friday that three seamen have died from an unspecified toxic substance that poisoned all 11 crew members of an Iranian cargo ship on the Caspian Sea.

According to the report, the crew of the vessel, Nazmehr, was transferred to a hospital in Baku, Azerbaijan. Three seamen died before they reached the hospital and the eight others remain hospitalized in a toxicology clinic.

IRNA says the case is under investigation.

There were no indications as to what the deadly substance was and IRNA did not say whether foul play was suspected.
