Container ship REN JIAN 15 went out of control while maneuvering to berth at Nansha Port, Longxue Island Container Terminal, Guangzhou, China, at around 1220 Beijing Time Dec 26. The ship moved straight at berthed container ship HAI SU 10, and struck her starboard, inflicting serious damages. HAI SU 10 jolted and listed, containers fell onto pier, hull was breached with ensuing water ingress. Emergency and Maritime SAR teams were deployed, powerful pumps fitted, to avoid disastrous consequences, and reportedly, situation was taken under control. HAI SU 10 AIS was still working as of 2100 Beijing Time, so hopefully, the ship didn’t capsize.
REN JIAN 15 bow no doubt, was also damaged, but there’s still no information on the extent of damages. No casualties, no injures reported.
