Two mainland China cargo ships issued distress signal in Taiwan Strait in or near Penghu islands waters, Taiwan, in the morning Oct 6. Taiwanese, Hong Kong and Chinese rescuers were engaged in joint SAR operation. Cargo ship HONGBO capsized, 12 crew are missing. JIA LIANG sank, but rescuers managed to rescue 13 crew. SAR still going on, rescuers trying to find out if any people are alive, being trapped inside capsized HONGBO. Both ships are long-time suspects in illegal sand trade.
