Over 300 Pinoy cruise ship workers from Italy, Germany repatriated, arrive in Manila

More than 300 Filipino seafarers working in cruise ships arrived in Manila from Italy and Germany on Sunday, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.

The overseas Filipino workers were among the 4,300 seafarers repatriated so far by the Philippine government since COVID-19 cases were reported.

A total of 322 seafarers from Italy arrived on Sunday night.

The group was composed of 114 seafarers from the Costa Diadema and 208 from Costa Victoria.

On Sunday afternoon, 16 crew members of cruise ship Amadea arrived in Manila from Frankfurt, Germany.

Earlier, 86 crew members of Carnival Pride cruise ship and 137 crew members from Carnival Fascination cruise ship also arrived from the US.

On Friday, 122 crew members of MSC Fantasia from Italy and 185 crew of MSC Splendida from Portugal also arrived in the country.

The DFA, which facilitated the repatriation of the seafarers, welcomed all the OFWs at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

"More kababayans are expected to come home this Holy Week," the DFA said. —KG, GMA News
