Tanker collided with cargo ship, both damaged, oil leak, Japan

Product tanker SHOEI MARU NO.8 was disabled after collision with general cargo ship DONG KUN 7 at night Mar 17, south of Nishimura, southeast Honshu, Pacific. Both ships sustained damages, understood serious. Tanker loaded with some 500 tons of oil product probably breached, leak mentioned. At 0600 Tokyo time tanker was adrift in vicinity 33 25N 135 22E. Later both ships were taken to Tanabe Bay north of collision site, either escorted by tugs, or towed. As of 1730 Tokyo time, both were in Tanabe Bay with two tugs nearby. Understood DONG KUN 7, which was en route from Korea to Tagonoura Japan, also sustained serious damages.
