CALOOCAN CITY, Jan. 12 (PIA) -- A total of 489,596 overseas Filipino workers (OFW) have now been assisted by the government’s One-Stop Shops (OSS) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminals 1, 2, and 3 within the boarders of Parañaque and Pasay Cities, as of Sunday.

Of the total, the Department of Transportation (DOTr), in an advisory, said 190,369 were assisted at the NAIA Terminal 2 since it was activated on April 25, 157,577 at the NAIA Terminal 1 since April 23, and 141,650 at the NAIA Terminal 3 since July 9, respectively.

The DOTr said the OSS has assisted 121,951 overseas Filipinos and tourists.

The OSS is a joint initiative of the DOTr and several other national government agencies including the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), Office for Transportation Security (OTS), Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Philippine National Police (PNP), and the Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ).

It is geared to aid repatriates in going to their various isolation facilities to undergo their 14-day mandatory quarantine to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

It also assists OFWs in identifying possible isolation facilities for their mandatory quarantine.

Under the setup, OFWs would have to undergo thermal scanning, filling up of health declaration forms, mandatory quarantine briefing, interview, COVID-19 testing, and checking of travel documents prior to transportation to designated hotel or quarantine facility.(PIA NCR)
