Singapore has further accelerated its drive to advance the maritime digital transformation with the recent announcement that it will grant funding for Singapore-based shipping companies to digitalise their operations.

As organisations across the world rethink processes and practices due to COVID-19 challenges, the Singapore government will offer support to small and medium enterprises to update and innovate their processes.

Intended to underpin growth and transform across industries, cloud technology, which enables companies to work remotely and collaborate regardless of location, is a key focus of the programme.

Eligible companies can secure grants of up to 80% of total project costs and Cloud Fleet Manager from Hanseaticsoft, part of the Lloyd’s Register Group, is among the solutions that has been endorsed by the Singapore Government.

According to a study from members of Maritime Singapore, digitalisation must be on the agenda for shipping companies to ‘future-proof’ business. Companies that digitalise their processes, increase their performance, focus more deeply on innovation, and create more value.

Navigating the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has also forced businesses to reappraise how they do things. A recent survey from Australian telco Telstra of more than 120 business leaders across four continents, found almost two-thirds of respondents believed COVID-19 had changed their organisations forever. It also showed that technology will be a key driver in their businesses in the future – 93% said they were accelerating the adoption of cloud services.

Alexander Buchmann, Hanseaticsoft CEO, said: “We are delighted that Cloud Fleet Manager has been endorsed by the Singapore government. It has long been recognised by local ship owners, managers and agencies as one of the leading and most efficient cloud-based technical ship management solutions.”

LR's Maritime Performance Services Director, Andy McKeran, added: “This funding program represents a great opportunity for Singapore-based shipping companies to digitally transform their businesses and processes. Together with Hanseaticsoft, Lloyd’s Register is committed to accelerating the digital transition of the maritime industry. Cloud Fleet Manager’s cloud-based all-in-one suit of software is the ideal solution for companies looking to digitalise and optimise their operations.”

To encourage enterprises to continue their digitalisation and productivity upgrading efforts, this elevated level of support will remain in place until 30 September 2021.
