TWO boat crew died of suffocation Wednesday, September 22, 2021, in Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported.

Police Brigadier General Ronaldo Genaro Ylagan, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula director, identified the fatalities as Remil Sanico, 34, and his younger brother, Renato, 27, both oiler of the M/V Lady Good Voyage.

Ylagan said the Sanicos suffered inhalation injury while they were incident the engine room of M/V Lady Good Voyage around 11:40 p.m. Wednesday, September 22, while the vessel was docked at the feeder port in Galas village, Dipolog City.

He said the victims were rushed to the hospital for treatment but were declared dead by the attending physician due to Acute Respiratory Failure Secondary to Inhalation Injury.

He said that the Philippine Coast Guard and Maritime Industry Authority have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the incident. (SunStar Zamboanga)
