Fire erupted on board of tanker SRIKANDI 511, docked at Banjarmasin, south Kalimantan, Indonesia, at around 0200 LT May 25. By 0800 LT fire reportedly was under control or extinguished. Witnesses said they saw “river on fire”, meaning that burning oil leaked from tanker into river and drifted downstream. At least 4 ships located downstream from SRIKANDI 511 were said to be damaged by burning fuel on the water. Information is rather sketchy at the moment, updates expected soon.
