A fire broke out aboard the Malta-flagged container ship Kyparissia while docked at Quay 118 and unloading the cargo at the Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), Johor, Malaysia, on 7th November. The incident claimed the lives of three crew members and injured three others.

The victims were identified as nationals of Malaysia, the Philippines, and the United Kingdom. The three injured crew members were transported to a hospital for medical treatment.

At around 12:23 pm local time, the fire erupted in the under-hatch section of Block 5, prompting an emergency response from the Johor Fire and Rescue Department. A firefighting team arrived within minutes, deploying nine personnel, a Fire Rescue Tender, and a utility vehicle to combat the blaze. Two tugboats provided additional support during the operation, and the fire was subsequently brought under control.

The Fire and Rescue Department established a forward control post at the site, and the firefighting efforts continued with the assistance from PTP officials.

Kyparissia is a 2014-built vessel sailing under the flag of Malta. The vessel measures 255.34 meters in length and 37.41 meters in width.
