Gulf seafarer PTSD claims trigger fears over costs

The first post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) claims linked to the Strait of Hormuz crisis are emerging, raising questions for Gulf companies over mounting insurance and operating costs.
Prolonged psychological strain on 20,000 seafarers stranded across the region is starting to trickle into personal injury filings, an insurance industry session heard last week in London.
Neil Roberts, of the Lloyd’s Market Association, which represents insurance underwriters, warned the prolonged disruption would make it harder to find mariners willing to work Gulf routes.
