KOLKATA: MV Nicobar, carrying several hundred passengers from Kolkata to Port Blair in the Andamans, rammed into a jetty at Geonkhali in East Midnapore and nearly ran aground on Friday afternoon. It seems that the experienced pilot of the ship lost control due to a steering gear failure while making a steep right turn in the Hooghly’s navigation channel.
