Shipping has been drawn into the front line of geopolitical disputes in 2026 with state-backed attacks killing at least 33 seafarers, according to new research.
Vessels have come under attack from the Baltic Sea to the Gulf of Oman, with at least five countries or regimes responsible for seafarers fatalities within five months this year, the industry data shows.
