A Catholic port chaplain in Portsmouth, stepped in to provide pastoral care for a cargo ship's crew upon the request of its manager, Seatrade Groningen BV, after a seafarer died on board.

The 19 crew members on the Comoros Stream were distraught following their colleague's death while they were at sea in the Atlantic en-route to Portsmouth.

The Filipino seafarers working in one of the two oil tankers damaged in an alleged attack near the Strait of Hormuz have returned home, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.

In a statement on Wednesday, the DFA said the 11 Filipino seafarers of MT Front Altair arrived in Manila this morning.
