Organised crime to ‘target container ship sector in economic crisis’

MSC executive warns UN conference that rampant corruption in times of crisis will see sector face new challenges from smugglers

Organised criminal gangs will exploit a global economic crisis by increasingly targeting vulnerable container ship workers to help with their trafficking operations, a senior executive of the Mediterranean Shipping Company told a UN conference.
