MANILA, Philippines — A former Philippine Navy chief has sounded the alarm over the security and strategic implications on the prospect of a Chinese takeover of a commercial shipyard in Subic.

Ethnic Armenian Andronik Grigoryan, who is among the other seamen who were kidnapped in the Gulf of Guinea, is a Russian citizen.

German Ananyants, Vice President of the Union of Armenians of Russia, told about the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

At present, however, there is no new information on these kidnapped mariners.

Container ship fire burning off Canada’s east coast now ‘largely contained’

A fire that has been burning for a week aboard a container ship off Canada’s east coast is now said to be “largely contained” and under control.
