South Korean shipbuilding major Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) has announced that it will suspend work at its offshore facility in August due to a lack of new orders.

“We cannot afford to run the offshore facility until we secure new orders,” HHI said in a statement today.

A product tanker operated by Norwegian owner Odfjell struck a jetty at the Port of Rotterdam on Saturday.

The 1996-built 37,500 dwt tanker Bow Jubail ruptured its hull in the incident and released around 220 tons of bunker fuel into the water. No injuries were reported in the incident.
